She has had a long and distinguished career in the public service as a judge, legal adviser and diplomat. She was the Ambassador of Malaysia to Netherlands and was the Malaysian Permanent Representative to the Organizationfor the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons. She held the position of Director-General of Research, Treaties and International Law at the Foreign Ministry. She was appointed as a member of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees advisory group on the 1951 Convention relating to the status of refugees and the 1961 Convention on reducing statelessness. Since her retirement from the Foreign Ministry in 2012, she continues to be involved in multiple activities. She is now head of the law reform committee at the National Council of Women Organisations and actively works on women’s rights issues in Malaysia, including holding a position as a trustee for the Women’s Aid Organisation (WAO).

Dato Dr Sharom Ahmat
He is a distinguished historian who obtained his BA (Hons) from the University of Singapore, Masters from Brown University, USA and PhD from the University of London. During his 45 years in active service, he had played a major role in to the development of education in Malaysia and the region. Among others, he held various posts at the University of Singapore, significantly contributed to the development and growth of Universiti Sains Malaysia into one of the country’s premier academic institutions, assisted with the establishment of University of Brunei Darussalam (UBD), developed a variety of academic programmes, and assisted in the establishment of Wawasan Open University, subsequently holding a position as the Chief Executive Officer of the Wawasan Education Foundation.
